Linked Livestream for the "Twin Cities Chronicle: Light of the Asian Games" Exhibition Opening
On June 25-26, 2023, XinChuan Studio designed a linked livestream plan for the opening ceremony of the "Twin Cities Chronicle: Light of the Asian Games" documentary image exhibition, connecting the Guangzhou Library and Hangzhou Library venues for a three-hour multi-platform broadcast.
The “Twin Cities Chronicle: Light of the Asian Games” documentary image exhibition was jointly presented by Guangzhou Library and Hangzhou Library. With Guangzhou and Hangzhou as two Asian Games cities, the exhibition used images to revisit urban landmarks, major moments, and stories from the bidding, preparation, and hosting of the Asian Games. XinChuan Studio supported the opening ceremony with a linked livestream that brought both library venues into one broadcast.
The project’s core challenge was not simply recording the venue. The team needed to help two remote sites communicate in sync through one livestream chain. Before the ceremony, members designed the broadcast plan around the needs of both libraries and refined the workflow, camera positions, and audio routing through rehearsal.
The opening ceremony used a two-camera setup. A wide camera preserved the space and atmosphere of the venue, while a medium camera captured speakers, exchanges, and key moments in the program. At the switcher, the team had to maintain judgment across both Guangzhou and Hangzhou, ensuring that online viewers could follow the event while guests at the two venues interacted smoothly.
Audio was the most important technical problem to solve. The livestream needed to capture local sound, return remote audio to the venue, and distribute a stable final signal to Huya, Douyin, Kuaishou, and WeChat Channels. By simplifying the signal chain and confirming each step, the team kept the three-hour linked broadcast stable and clear.
The livestream ultimately reached 597,000 cumulative views across platforms. For XinChuan Studio, the project extended campus livestreaming experience into a city-level public culture event and strengthened the team’s capability in remote linking, audio handling, multi-platform distribution, and cross-venue coordination.
