XinChuan Studio Delivers Linked Livestream for the "Twin Cities Chronicle: Light of the Asian Games" Exhibition Opening
On June 25-26, 2023, XinChuan Studio designed a remote linked livestream plan for the opening ceremony of the “Twin Cities Chronicle: Light of the Asian Games” documentary image exhibition, connecting Guangzhou Library and Hangzhou Library in one broadcast.
The exhibition was jointly presented by Guangzhou Library and Hangzhou Library. Centered on Guangzhou and Hangzhou as two Asian Games cities, it used documentary images to show urban landmarks, major events, and stories from the bidding, preparation, and hosting of the Asian Games. For the livestream team, the task was not to record a single venue, but to organize two cities, two sites, and one ceremony flow into an online event that viewers could follow smoothly.

Before the event, the team designed the livestream plan around the needs of both libraries and adjusted it through rehearsal. The opening ceremony needed to show the venue, allow guests at two different sites to communicate in sync, and maintain picture, audio, program flow, and multi-platform distribution. The more complex the requirement, the more clearly the underlying signal chain had to be organized.
The livestream used a two-camera setup. A wide camera preserved the sense of place, while a medium camera captured speeches, exchanges, and key moments. Through network linking, the switcher presented the Guangzhou Library and Hangzhou Library venues in one livestream signal, which was then distributed to Huya, Douyin, Kuaishou, and WeChat Channels. The broadcast lasted about three hours and reached 597,000 cumulative views across platforms.

Audio handling was the most important technical challenge. The stream needed to let online viewers hear the venue clearly, allow guests at two remote sites to hear and respond to one another, and keep the final output stable for every platform. The team broke the complex requirements into controllable steps around pickup, return feed, monitoring, and distribution, ultimately keeping the linked livestream smooth.

The project brought the studio’s everyday training in camera coordination, switching judgment, and signal handling into a city-level public culture event. Under the combined pressure of remote linking, multi-site interaction, and multi-platform output, the team completed planning, rehearsal adjustment, and field execution while gaining reusable experience for future cross-venue livestreams.
