From June 25 to 26, 2024, Guangdong University of Foreign Studies held its 2024 graduation and degree-conferral ceremonies in the gymnasiums of its north and south campuses. XinChuan Studio’s livestream team again took responsibility for the online broadcast, covering the full production workflow from early coordination and production planning to on-site execution and post-project review.

This ceremony came with a larger scale, upgraded venues, and a more demanding run of show. For the livestream team, the task was not simply to point cameras at the stage. The production had to build a stable viewing rhythm around formal speeches, graduate movement, degree conferral, audience reactions, and the emotional cadence of the day, so remote viewers could still feel present for an important farewell.

The production combined multiple camera positions with specialized equipment. The venue setup included as many as seven camera positions, including aerial coverage, and used cinema-grade Sony FX9 and FX3 cameras. The team designed coverage around the main stage, audience seating, graduate movement routes, and key moments of degree conferral, so wide shots, medium shots, close-ups, and moving shots could support each other.

During the ceremonies, directing, camera operation, monitoring, and streaming roles had to stay tightly coordinated for long stretches of time. Graduation ceremonies move quickly, and key shots can appear and disappear within seconds. The team needed to understand the run of show, anticipate transitions, and adjust quickly when unexpected conditions emerged, keeping the broadcast stable and continuous.

The livestream was distributed across WeChat Channels, Nanfang Plus, Bilibili, and other platforms. On the first morning, the WeChat Channels broadcast drew more than 60,000 viewers, 135,000 likes, and nearly 3,000 peak concurrent viewers. Nanfang Plus and Weibo recorded a combined 88,900 clicks, while the Bilibili stream once reached fifth place in the platform’s lifestyle livestream heat ranking.

Years of supporting graduation ceremonies and other major university events have helped the team develop a more mature project method. Before an event, the team separates requirements, venue constraints, run-of-show details, and signal chains for confirmation. During execution, each role and contingency plan is assigned clearly. Afterward, the team reviews the project while the experience is still fresh. The 2024 graduation livestream further strengthened XinChuan Studio’s judgment in major university ceremony broadcasts.

This production brought equipment capability, on-site coordination, team collaboration, and platform distribution into one real project. The cameras recorded the graduates’ farewell to the university, and they also recorded the growth of a young production team working under real pressure.
