On November 9, 2023, the 15th World Culture Festival of Guangdong University of Foreign Studies returned after a three-year pause. To help teachers, students, alumni, and off-campus audiences experience the atmosphere remotely, XinChuan Studio was invited to provide multi-camera livestreaming for the event.

Built around the theme “Embrace the World, Reunion at Guangwai,” the festival included two major parts: a food corridor and an evening gala. The livestream team had to move between outdoor cultural booths, dense crowd flow, opening proceedings, and stage performances, turning a multi-space campus culture event into a stable and coherent online experience.

The day before the event, team members arrived on site for a technical walk-through and began setting up equipment, studying the venue, and checking stage movement. The festival was larger and more complex than a single gala: the food corridor required lively coverage of country booths and crowd movement, while the evening performance required steady stage coverage and attention to audience reactions.

The food corridor section mainly included the opening ceremony and introductions to country booths. Based on the site conditions and desired viewing effect, the team used a five-camera setup to show booths, crowds, host interactions, and cultural displays from multiple angles. As visitor density grew, shooting space became tighter. Team members followed the producer and director’s instructions, communicated with booth teams in advance, and helped keep camera paths and livestream order under control.

The evening gala began at 7 p.m. The production again used a five-camera layout, including wide, tighter wide, medium, close-up, and roaming positions. The team needed to preserve the scale of the stage while capturing enough detail from performers and audience reactions. Indonesian dance, Thai performance, and other cultural programs were delivered to online viewers in real time.

Compared with many single-venue livestream projects, this festival combined an outdoor food corridor with an evening performance, making the time span longer, the content types more varied, and the production intensity higher. The team had to shift roles across different spaces, maintain a stable technical chain, and decide which cultural displays and performance moments should be brought forward for online viewers.

Platform data showed that the livestream drew more than 140,000 views. After the broadcast, the organizers expressed their appreciation to the team, while many viewers experienced the festival’s diverse campus culture through the livestream.

The 15th World Culture Festival placed multi-camera coordination, mobile shooting, stage directing, and large-event site management into one real production. It documented a campus cultural celebration and gave the studio reusable experience for future multi-scene cultural event livestreams.
