XinChuan Studio Produces the Provincial Cup Opening Ceremony Livestream

In November 2020, the Guangdong Provincial Cup opening ceremony livestream was completed successfully. For the production team, this was not a simple one-camera recording from the sideline, but a coordinated live program involving medium shot, wide shot, roaming camera, presentation-room camera, and switching roles.

Performances, guest movements, audience reactions, and online hosting all happened at the same time. The livestream needed to serve remote viewers while also feeding stable pictures to the venue screen, so the team defined the responsibility of each camera position before the event and let the switcher assemble those views into one continuous output on site.

The medium shot camera worked like a scanner for the live scene. As performance teams changed formation on the field, this position captured movement, formation, and local detail so viewers could clearly follow the layers of the opening ceremony. It was not the widest view, but it carried the job of making the key action readable.

The wide shot camera established the scale of the ceremony. It placed performers, venue, and atmosphere in one frame, building momentum for the matches that followed and helping online viewers understand the energy of the live site. The wide shot set the scene; the medium and roaming cameras then supplied the detail.

The roaming camera acted as a walking record of the ceremony. It captured audience reactions, leaders walking on stage, and live interactions that fixed positions could not easily cover, giving the livestream a more flexible visual rhythm. The more natural the roaming shots felt, the easier it was for the switcher to carry the ceremony’s pace.

This opening ceremony combined online and offline hosts. The online host introduced and warmed up the program from a presentation room, while the presentation-room camera delivered that hosting segment into the live flow with a steady picture.

The switcher was the command center of the livestream. With multiple camera feeds returning continuously, the director had to decide when to cut to wide shot, medium shot, roaming camera, or presentation-room camera, while also sending the program output to the venue screen. The role tested not only equipment operation, but judgment over event flow, visual information, and live atmosphere.

Behind the smooth livestream was a team workflow in which every position had a clear job. The medium shot explained the action, the wide shot built atmosphere, the roaming camera added movement, the presentation-room camera carried the online host, and the switcher organized those pieces into the final program seen by viewers.
